DR. BENJAMIN LICKTEIG
Dr. Lickteig is the owner and chief optometrist of Lickteig Family Eyecare. He started the practice at the Dedham location in 2010. He grew the single location practice for several years and developed a very diverse patient following in Dedham and also developed a very loyal staff in that time. In 2015, Dr. Lickteig acquired the Natick location and worked to improve it’s systems to mimic his Dedham office. In 2017, Dr. Lickteig expanded his operations with the Medford location followed by the Mansfield location in 2024.
Dr. Lickteig still primarily sees patients in the Dedham office; however, he can be frequently seen at both the Natick and Mansfield offices as well. Dr. Lickteig strives to build his staff and team of optometrist to deliver the highest level of patient care. It is Dr. Lickteig’s mission that he and his team of associate optometrists take the time with each individual patient to properly educate them of their vision and the overall health of their eyes.
Dr. Lickteig graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Biology and was a four-year letter winner on the Buena Vista baseball team. After graduating from college, Dr. Lickteig moved to Chicago where he worked his way to becoming an optometrist at the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Lickteig’s clinical rotations included low vision rehabilitation at the West Haven VA Hospital in West Haven, Connecticut, vision therapy at the Hellerstein & Brenner Vision Center in Englewood, Colorado and the Westside Family Vision Center in San Jose, California where he co-managed LASIK and cataract patients.
Dr. Lickteig is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Metrowest Chamber of Commerce. When Dr. Lickteig is not seeing patients he enjoys traveling, skiing, spending time with family and cheering for the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He resides in Medfield with his wife, Kelly, and their daughters: Annie, Natalie, and Molly.
DR. ERIN LORD
Dr. Erin Lord grew up in the Boston area. She graduated summa cum laude from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. After graduating college, she worked as a research assistant for an interventional cardiologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for several years before deciding to pursue a career in optometry.
She obtained her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where she was in the Beta Kappa Sigma International Optometric Honor Society. Her clinical rotations included: Eye Care for Kids in Canton, MA, Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA, VA Boston Healthcare System in Brockton, MA, and Fenway Health in Boston, MA.
She then completed a residency in ocular disease/primary eye care at the VA Boston Healthcare System in Brockton, MA. During her residency, she obtained extensive experience in diagnosing, treating, and co-managing ocular disease while serving our veteran population.
Currently, Dr. Lord enjoys all aspects of optometric care, including comprehensive family eye care, ocular disease management, contact lens fittings, and surgical co-management. She takes great pride in providing high quality eye care to all her patients. Dr. Lord resides in Weymouth, MA. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends.
DR. JANE LAM
Dr. Jane Lam grew up and attended school in Boston. Her family is originally from Vietnam and moved to Massachusetts when she was a child. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry. After college, she worked as a research chemist for several years before deciding to pursue a career in optometry.
Dr. Lam earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree from The New England College of Optometry in 2014. During the course of her optometric training, she interned at the New England Eye Institute in Boston, focused in pediatric eye care and contact lens training. Dr. Lam had extensive training in geriatric eye care at the Edith Nourse Roger Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford, MA and at the Brockton Veterans Hospital. She interned at the Massachusetts Association for the Blind in Worcester MA, provided low vision eye care, also at the Dorchester House Community Health Center during her final year of internship.
Dr. Lam provides comprehensive eye care for all ages, as well as providing pre and post-operative care of laser vision correction. She has extensive contact lens training in soft, rigid gas permeable and specialty contact lenses. She is also trained in diagnosing and managing of ocular diseases including cataract, glaucoma, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy.
Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors. Running, swimming, and hiking are some of her favorite activities. She is fluent in both Vietnamese and English.
DR. MELISSA TOM-KUN
Dr. Melissa Tom-Kun is a full-time associate optometrist primarily in the Downtown Natick location. She is certified in both the United States and Canada. She has a special interest in family and pediatric optometry.
She obtained her Honors Bachelors of Science from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. She moved to Boston to complete her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry, where she worked in several community health centers, hospitals, and VA outpatient care around the Boston area. Combining her education with her desire to learn about new cultures, Dr. Tom-Kun also provided eye care in rural areas of Belize and Alaska.
Dr. Tom-Kun received extensive pediatric optometric training at South End Community Health Center and at Boston Medical Center. She is also well-versed in soft contact lens fittings and ocular disease management. Her main goal is to provide personalized, high quality eye care that improves the everyday life of patients of all ages.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tom-Kun is likely to be found sketching city views, planning her next travel adventure, or eating at a new restaurant in Boston.
DR. YEN NGUYEN
Dr. Nguyen is originally from Massachusetts. She graduated from The College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. After completing her undergraduate studies, Dr. Nguyen then went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry (NECO). At NECO, she interned at several community health centers, a private group practice, and a VA medical center around the Boston area. During her internships, Dr. Nguyen received training in primary eye care, ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatrics.
Dr. Nguyen enjoys interacting with patients from all ages and backgrounds. She is motivated to provide the best care to her patients by listening attentively and empowering her patients to make informed decisions about their eye health.
Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen likes to enjoy nature and spend quality time with friends and family. She especially likes bird watching, hiking, and going to the beach.
DR. ABIGAIL COLBERT
Dr. Abigail Colbert is originally from Plymouth, Massachusetts. She graduated in 2014 from Stonehill College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After graduation she began working for the nonprofit organization Boston Foundation for Sight, where she quickly realized Optometry was a field she wanted to dedicate her life to. She then went on to pursue her doctorate at the New England College of Optometry and graduated in 2019 with honors.
Dr. Colbert has completed internships with Boston Medical Center, the VA Boston healthcare system, the Carroll Center for the Blind, and several community healthcare centers in the Boston area. During her time at NECO she completed intensive training in Low Vision, ocular disease, contact lenses and pediatrics. In 2019 she received the Optelec Excellence in Low Vision Award.
In her spare time Dr. Colbert enjoys traveling, boating and of course spending time with her Golden Retriever puppy.
